About Us
The Hispanic Outreach Center (HOC) is operated by the Confederation of Spanish American Families (CSAF). CSAF was chosen to conduct outreach within the Hispanic community as part of the Parents Speak Up National Campaign.
The Parents Speak Up National Campaign is a public service advertising and education campaign funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services designed to empower parents to talk to their kids about waiting to have sex, preferably until marriage, and how this may contribute to their future success and happiness. As part of this campaign, the HOC is a group of community organizations that raise awareness of and support the campaign.
To better serve our community, the HOC has formed a Hispanic Abstinence Coalition (HAC) in each of seven targeted communities: Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, San Antonio, Phoenix, and in the San Francisco Bay Area.
The HAC is a local group of community-based organizations who raises awareness of and supports the Parents Speak Up National Campaign, while providing parents the necessary culturally sensitive tools to talk to their children early and often about waiting to have sex until marriage. Each HAC provides the Parents Speak Up Workshops, which are available in English and Spanish, and conducts an annual Fiesta Nite event for parents and their preteens and teens.
